VIP Jeoun Company, a commercial transport operator, has donated a cheque for an amount of GH¢ 100,000.00 to the COVID-19 fund at a ceremony in Kumasi.
The company also donated 300 bags of rice and 120 cartons of cooking oil to the members of the security agencies, who are working to ensure compliance of the lockdown directives and restriction protocols in Greater Kumasi.
Mr Yaw Amponsah Marfo, a Director of VIP, who made the presentation said the gesture was to support the fight against the spread of the virus in the country.
He said as a commercial transport operator, the company was aware of the challenges the country was going through as a result of the outbreak of the pandemic.
Mr Marfo said the amount would help support the government to provide the needed equipment for health officials and frontline staff to discharge their duties to prevent further spread of the disease.
He commended the security agencies for their dedication to duty and said the food items would support them to give out their best.
Mr Simon Osei Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister, who received them on behalf of government, thanked the company for the support.
He said VIP Jeoun, had been at the forefront in the fight against the disease, since it had already provided protective items in their various loading terminals for use by both travellers and their workers.
Mr Osei Mensah appealed to other corporate organizations to emulate the example and come to the aid of government to provide adequate equipment and materials to support the fight.
