Of a Ghanaian descent but based in the UK, The Unserious Candidate, real name McBriggs Antwi Bosiako is a 21-year-old, an imminent Wizkid/King Promise hybrid. Music has always been a facet of his life, McBriggs who is currently studying law, decided to pursue more contemporary music. “Jeje” is the product of McBriggs’s time off and having fun with his friends in the pop genre.
“Jeje” avoids all of the pitfalls of an emotive afropop track. Each verse is as particular as it is sensual. His vocal range is impressive and tempered, every vocalization and swell of energy is methodical. Make no mistake, The Unserious Candidate is not playing it safe; the song is lush while being accessible. As a final touch McBriggs brings an appropriate level of bounce and spirit to the track without mucking up the somber mood. This is a song stitched together by a highly perceptive musician.
The first frame of the video comes into focus and you’re almost positive you’re watching a dope video. His vocals hit and you aren’t quite sure if he’s even opening his mouth to sing, but it sounds so amazingly pleasing to your ears. His vibrato slides vulnerably throughout his tone & his slight rasp is incredibly sensual laid over the playful Afro-xylophoney-sounding-beat. ‘Jeje’ was shot and directed by Kaylum Dennis, an award-winning director who has worked with great artistes in the UK.
The video portrays cool looking dude, McBriggs explaining how a girl’s ‘Jeje’ physique has caught his attention and how bad he will love to have her.
