Last Wednesday, being Valentines Day where the world celebrated love; Grow A Child Project (GACP) showed their love on the streets of Accra celebrating Valentines Day with the deprived. Event dubbed “Vals on the Street”.
Started off from the streets of Opeibia (37, near Stanbic Heights), ending off at James Town where emotions got high as these beautiful street children and that of adults appreciated the love shown by team GACP. The newly formed NGO fed more than planned (300+) as the numbers turned out to be exceedingly beyond their imagination.
Ms. Belinda Ray Tamakloe, Chief Executive Officer says this event was successful being their first. “The event was tough but successful, to realize people really slept without food was sad, It wasn’t easy even controlling the crowd by the team but in all it was a great event knowing we saving lives out there and putting smiles on these peoples faces”.
“Most importantly our main mission was to get some of these kids out of the streets, getting them into a vocation. We managed getting three girls off the streets of Opeibia focused and determine to learn a vocation. With them being used to surviving on the streets, we will put in our possible best to see to their needs as they learn these chosen vocations with the help of our partners”
Special thanks to the volunteers, partners and the public as a whole for making this event a success. Let’s get together once again with our next charity event to put smiles on the faces of the deprived.
